Joshua McBride (b. 2003, Fort Lauderdale, Florida) is a contemporary photographic artist based in Orlando, Florida. His work brings form to and emphasizes the importance of depiction in a time where abstract ideals and concrete developments often intertwine and hide within one another, to express that human values are not infallible, resolute matter-of-facts, but informed, partisan and intentional progressions that are shifted by people, legislation, ideology and history.
Raised in South Florida, McBride’s early exposure to the arts consisted solely of new media such as music sharing platforms, online video games, and memetic communities, giving him a uniquely-current frame of reference on how one can combine the traditional role of the arts with the rapidness and fluidity of contemporary processes.
McBride is currently completing his Bachelor’s of Fine Arts at the University of Central Florida with a specialization in photography and modern art history. He has served as the Photographic Chairman for the Fashion Society UCF and is the current Secretary for the school’s official Photography Guild.
His photographs have been featured as cover images in the student editorials Fashion Society and Strike Magazine, and have also appeared in three group exhibitions.
